ICF Welcomes New Branch in Surprise, Arizona On Saturday, September 26, 2009, 86 persons were initiated as charter members of the newly established Branch 437, at St. Clare of Assisi Parish in Surprise, Arizona. The festivities started with Mass celebrated by the pastor and branch chaplain, Father Hans Ruygt. The installation of the branch and the initiation of members followed with Grand President James Jones presiding. The master of ceremonies was Carmen Kilcullen, Life Member Emeritus of the CC. Acting as marshals were Past Grand President and CC Life Member David Botta and Santa Rosa District President Lauren Kilcullen. Grand President Jones presented the Branch President, Ben Bertoldo, with the official charter and gavel as a symbol of his office. The banner was presented by the two marshals. All new members were given a membership pin and ICF 75 Yearbook. Father Hans welcomed everyone and expressed his delight at having an ICF branch at his parish. Following the mass and ceremonies, everyone proceeded to the parish hall where a wonderful buffet meal was served by a local restaurant. Trustee John Urzi, a DJ, played Italian music for singing and dancing, to the joy of everyone. It was truly a festive occasion! A raffle followed and donations were made to the branch by the Central Council, and by Branches 425, 433 and 436 who were in attendance. Also attending were Janice Jones, spouse of our Grand President and Emily Corral, president of Branch 191 in San Jose. The branch will meet on the 4th Thursday of the month and Past Grand President Robert Acquistapace will serve as the branch deputy. Our appreciation goes to Father Hans, David Botta, Carmen Kilcullen and the branch core group who worked so hard to bring about the formation of this branch. May it have many years of success!
