Grand President'S Message by Michael Rossi
The merry month of May is a busy time when we are tending the garden, honoring the mothers in our life, winding down the school year, and planning our summer fun. May is a busy month for the ICF too.
May is the month when our first Bishop's days are just concluding. I have had the pleasure of meeting the bishops in Tucson, San Francisco, Oakland and Chicago. All are wonderful leaders of our church and all tell me how much they appreciate the presence of the ICF in their dioceses. Your generous support of the seminarians with monetary donations and prayers are well received. I am very proud to represent you at these Bishop's day events to carry our ICF message of support for our clergy.
May is also the month to elect the delegates to represent your branch at the convention in Garden Grove, California, on Labor Day weekend. As much as possible, I encourage all branches to include new delegates to introduce them to this wonderful event. And of course, all branches have a responsibility to send their designated number of delegates to this annual meeting of the Federation. This is a great time to meet old and new friends, and again challenge ourselves to keep the Federation alive and vibrant.
The Convention Directors Committee and the Orange District have been working hard to make sure the convention will be a success. Attendees will have the opportunity to go on local tours, play Pedro, bocce, and bingo, watch a cooking demo, meet the candidates for central council elections, attend workshops and masses, and attend several dinners, dancing, the raffle, and entertainment. At the business sessions, the delegates will elect central council members, vote on proposals, donate money to our charities, and conduct other business of the Federation. Awards will be given to deserving recipients for Family of the Year, Mother Teresa, Young Adult Leadership, Grand President's, and the Pope John XXIII award. All members are invited to attend, and you will not be disappointed if you do attend.
Lastly, May is of course the month for all mothers. Our mothers mean so much to us. They took care of us when we were young, they watched us grow, and no matter what you do, they always love you and are proud of you. God bless all mothers and have a wonderful Mother's Day
