Once in a while we meet someone who stands out as special. "There is something about that person that is attractive; something magnetic," we say. We can't quite put our finger on it, but we know it's there. We feel good when we talk, work, or share with that person. There seems to be a wholeness of character; a feeling of trust. "What is it," we say, "that makes this person unique?" We find ourselves using words like true-blue, committed, follows through, trustworthy, dependable, selfless, kind, compassionate and honest. We even go so far to say, "Wouldn't it be wonderful if more people possessed these special qualities?" When we talk to that person, we hear no criticism of others, no gossip, and no complaints, only words of encouragement, praise and willingness to help. There seems to be a special wholesomeness and a feeling of peace present in that person. "What is it?" "What makes this person stand out and be unique?" There is no hidden agenda, no conflict of interest. "Can there be such a person?" Yes, there is and there are many more, but there are also others who don't have these qualities. We read in the Book of Titus 2:7… "Show yourself as a model of good deeds in every respect, with integrity in your teaching, dignity, and sound speech...." That's it. That special quality we see in these people is integrity. The dictionary defines integrity as: Honesty or trustworthiness. The quality of being virtuous. Wholeness of character without duplicity or internal conflict of interests.
May our lives sparkle with Integrity in Christ the Light.
