ICF Scholarship Program Hopes to Assist More Students
For graduating high school seniors, this time of year is very exciting and stressful. They are finding out if they have been accepted to their schools of choice, and are applying for financial aid and scholarships so they can attend their chosen university.
At the Italian Catholic Federation, high school seniors are also on our minds, as the 2009 Scholarship Application deadline of March 15 will be here before you know it.
Scholarship applications and packets have been sent to the high schools, districts and branches, but it is important to note that an application can simply be downloaded from the ICF website www.icf.org.
Last year, the ICF received 473 1st year scholarship applications, and awarded 195 scholarships for a total of $78,000.00. The ICF awarded 48 scholarships for the 2nd, 3rd and 4th year scholarship program in 2008 for a total of $28,700.00.
The remainder of the applicants were turned away due to lack of funds. It is well known that during this economic downturn funds of all sorts are becoming empty, but the ICF Scholarship Program would greatly appreciate any and all donations you may be able to make to aid these graduates.
You can donate to the scholarship fund at any time during the year by using the scholarship donation card and checking the reason for the donation. These cards can be requested from the ICF office.
In 2008, the Santa Rosa District gave the most scholarships - 24 - and as far as Branches, Br. 198 in Santa Rosa gave the most scholarships - 12. This District's dedication to the Scholarship Program is greatly appreciated, not only the members of the Scholarship Committee, but also by the graduating high schools seniors who it benefits.
