Looking Back at 2008's Highlights and News
As Christmas nears with its frantic pace, let's take a moment to look back on this past year and note some of the Italian Catholic Federation's highlights.
In February, at the Central Council meeting, the Bertha Wright Society of Children's Hospital & Research Center Foundation presented the ICF with the Crystal Heart Award.
On May 24, 2008, the ICF welcomed into its family Branch 435, Santa Caterina D'Alessandria, in Morgan Hill, California. Grand President Mike Rossi inaugurated 121 charter members.
One month later, on June 7, 2008 there was more good news, and Branch 434, St. Elizabeth Ann Seton in Tucson, Arizona. This time GP Rossi initiated 35 new members.
At the annual Convention, held this year in Garden Grove, California, the delegates elected two new Central Council members: Pat Mages from Branch 380 and Deborah Rodondi from Branch 19.
In October, Branch 19, in Colma, held a dinner to honor the humanitarian work of Past Grand President and founder of the Gifts of Love Program, Al Teglia.
Throughout the year the members of the ICF worked hard to increase membership numbers, donate money to the Gifts of Love and Cooley's Anemia programs, and held successful Bishop's Days. As with any family, the ICF has suffered its fair share of loss and said good-bye to some dear friends, but when you take a moment to look back at the year, it is amazing how good it truly was.
