Mother Teresa Award:
Sister Flor Azevedo
Comforts the Needy and Angel for the Elderly

Sister Flor Azevedo lives her life for other people, much like dear Mother Teresa of Calcutta. Her nickname in her parish is "the flying Nun". She is definitely attuned to the daily needs of many people in her parish. She is an angel to the elderly and caretaker to the ill as she comforts the needy and strives to help those in need. In addition, she serves as the Parish Sacristan and creates beautiful altars for so many occasions. She is aware of the environment and does all she can to protect it. Her abundance of energy reaches out to people, invigorating them and encouraging them to help others. She works closely with Catholic Charities, The Poverello House and Holy Cross Women's Center in Fresno, California. Bishop Steinbock writes, "This honor could not bestowed on anyone more deserving". She works tirelessly and always with an inviting smile on her face. So many letters mention that she brings joy to others, enriches people's lives and offers her help to many causes. What a wonderful world this would be if more people were like Sister Flor Azevedo. In the letters we received, friends describe her as maternal, spiritual, assuring, and affectionate. It was also written that "she is held in high esteem by many." The members of the Italian Catholic Federation are honored to bestow the Mother Teresa Award to Sister Flor Azevedo.
