  Alex CenturioniLong time member, Alex Centurioni and Life Member Emeritus of the Italian Catholic Federation passed away on July 19, 2009 surrounded by his loving family. Alex was born on July 29, 1926 in Los Angeles, California. Alex was predeceased by his son Stephen. Alex leaves his wife of 61 years, Armandina (Army) and five children: Daniel, Elaine, David, Therese, and Jacqueline. He leaves 26 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. Many of us remember the joy he felt when he announced another birth in the Centurioni family. Everyone who met him became his friend. In his final years he struggled with health problems but continued his relationships with his friends with phone calls and emails. He often visited with patients who were on dialysis, encouraging them to continue the treatments. He leaves a long legacy with the Federation. He and his wife joined Branch 119 more than 47 years ago, and transferred to Branch 362 in Downey when Br. 119 closed. His devotion to the Federation has been remarkable, both on the branch and district level where he served as president of the LA District and as both a District and branch deputy. Alex chaired the Bishop's Days in the Los Angeles District many times, and it was always a very elegant affair. Alex served on the Central Council for 25 years and became a Life Member Emeritus in 2001. He served as a Grand Trustee and on various CC committees. He set wonderful examples of love for his church and the Italian Catholic Federation, and he served with love, devotion, and integrity. Alex was proud of his Italian (Tuscan) Heritage. We will miss his delightful smile and bear hugs. Rest in Peace, Alex.
