  Annual Golf Tournament a SuccessLeonard Rossi Golf Tournament Coordinator Past Grand President The eighth annual Italian Catholic Federation Golf Tournament and Banquet sponsored by the Central Council took place on Thursday, July 24, 2008. It was a great success. 84 golfers attacked the challenging Laguna Seca Golf Ranch in beautiful Monterey. The weather was gorgeous and the golfing was exciting. First place prize, with a net score of 53, went to the foursome consisting of Ruday Sanchez, Robert Sanchez, David Martinez and Ray Martinez. Second place winners were Matt Ornellas, Joe Bacchetti, Steve Alegre and John Palmer. The day began with a beautiful breakfast buffet for all the golfers. Following the golf match, all of the contestants and many guests attended the post tournament banquet that was held at the Moose Club Lodge in Del Rey Oaks. A delicious dinner, cooked by chef extraordinaire Eddie Leonard, featured steamed clams in garlic butter, prawns simmered in a tomato, garlic and white wine sauce, Roman summer salad, grilled fresh picked Castroville artichokes, garlic basil mayonnaise and baked brie in puff pastry. The dinner consisted of penne rigate in pesto Trapanese Style, Neopolitan Steak with mushrooms and roasted garlic smashed potatoes. Eddie and his crew from Branch 36 in Monterey did a superb job.Culminating the days activities was a stupendous raffle, featuring numerous prizes. Chairing the raffle were Central Council members Dante Galeazzi and Jim Friebel. The Central Council would like to thank Josephine Favazza for all her help in coordinating the golf course. We also want to thank the president of Branch 36 Liz Grammatico, Tony Hreptich and the members of the branch who helped in numerous ways to make this event such a success.
