Meeting Minutes
Sat. , June 14, 2008

The meeting was called to order at 1:02pm by Grand President Michael Rossi. The opening prayer was led by Spiritual Director, Fr. Daniel Cardelli. All were present except Ario Gregori and Leroy Taddei, who were excused. Communications were read. Reports were given by Fr. Cardelli, Grand President Mike Rossi, Grand Treasurer, Carmen Kilcullen, Deputy Chairperson and 1st Vice president, Jim Jones.
Expansion Report: Carmen Kilcullen and David Botta indicated that expansion is being considered for Glendale and Surprise, Az. Harry Pacini is looking at a possibility of a branch in Carson City, Nev. and Roselynne Jarrett is look in Orinda, Ca.
Apostolate/Charity: Maria Di Paolo/Joe Polselli will tally up reports turned in by the branches and the CC approved to continue with Cooley's Anemia as our national charity.
Convention Directors: Steve Fuentes reported that all details have been worked out for the convention. Professional pictures will be taken during the banquet, Bingo on Friday p.m., and Joe and Maria's Family Reunion dinner show on Sunday evening. Fresno, Burbank and Palm Desert are being considered for the 2013 convention.
Finance: Carmen Kilcullen reviewed expenses and income; report was accepted. Consideration will be given to reimbursing District Deputy travel; convention stipend for CC convention expense was accepted.
Gifts of Love: Discussion was held on the purpose of the fund, definition and intent of the program. A suggestion was made that guidelines for specific amounts be established.
Heritage: Nina Malone reported that 113 branches have Heritage chairs; judging will be held at the end of July. There will be a heritage table at the convention.
Hospitalization: Robert Basuino reported that there are 758 members enrolled in the program with assets of $909,632.88. A motion by George Bacigalupi/Joe Polselli to dissolve the fund by December 31, 2008 was defeated.
Membership: Roselynne Jarrett discussed Recruit and Retain letter sent to the District Presidents and how to stage a membership drive will be on display at the convention.
Public Relations: Nettie Descalso and committee are working to minimize errors in the Bollettino; they are preparing a workshop scheduled for the convention. Members approved $1,000 towards purchase of tote bag give-aways for Italian Festas where we have a booth. The committee proposed that the Young Adult Award be named after Madeleine Vinci; the motion was defeated.
Task Force: Richard Valli presented a motion that an employee of the ICF may be a CC member but may not hold an office of the CC or serve on the Executive Committee except as an ex-officio member without a vote; in an emergency, the GP may appoint any CC member to fill any employee position on a temporary basis. Motion carried.
Ways and Means: Leonard Rossi reported that the 2009 calendar has gone to the printers. Bingo will be played at the convention with $20 for 6 games with cash prizes. The committee requested $200 for golf tournament prizes; motion carried.
Workshop: David Botta reported that the committee presented a workshop for the Blessed Sacrament District in April; other districts have expressed interest.
New Business: The CC members voted on the recipients for the convention awards and the following were selected: Pope John, XXIII Dave Rose; Grand President, Liz Donaldson; Mother Teresa Award, Father Lauren Blessing; Family of the Year, Robert Tomasello Family and a tie between Michelle Rubi and Richard Interrante for the Young Leadership Award. The Central Council agreed to recognize both of them.
Action on Correspondence: Motion by Joe Polselli/Jane Dianda to donate $2,500 to Oakland's Children's Hospital for Cooley's anemia patient events; carried.
Good of the Order: Several members expressed their appreciation for various causes. Congratulations to the Vallis, Pacinis and Aquistapaces on their 50th wedding anniversary and congratulations to Al Teglia and Frances Foglia on their marriage.
Closing prayer: was led by Fr. Dan Cardelli. Meeting was adjourned at 5:23 p.m.
